摘要
The psychosocial impact of progressive cancer disease affects the patient as well as his family. Practitioners' support may be essential. A stable doctor-patient-relationship is thought to enhance patients' and families' capacity to adjust to life-threatening illness. Some problem areas should be focused: e. g. providing adequate information, encouraging open communication among patient and relatives, palliative care treatment (pain control) and giving practical as well as emotional support to the family. Thus, severe psychosocial problems and isolation can be prevented.
