Acute Suprachoroidal Expulsive Hemorrhage

Purpose: To present a case of suprachoroidal expulsive hemorrhage during combined cataract and glaucoma surgery. Method: Case report Case: 77-year old male patient came to our clinic with a complaint of decreased vision in the right eye. He reported to have had a blunt trauma in his right eye 6-7 years ago. He has been receiving antiglaucomatous therapy for 7 years. He had no other systemic disease except hypertension. In the slitlamp examination he had traumatic mydriasis, phacodonesis, grade 4 nuclear cataract (rock-hard cataract) in the right eye and grade II nuclear cataract in the left eye. According to the fundus examination; left eye had tigroid appearance, vascular sclerosis and macula was found to be normal. Right eye could not be visualized but its ocular ultrasonography was normal. Discussion: Acute suprachoroidal expulsive hemorrhage is a rare but serious complication of cataract surgery and should always be kept in mind.
