摘要
Theatrical representation has been an integral part of religious and public feasts such as the Octave of Corpus Christi. In Manuela by Diaz Castro, that expression of theatricality not only serves the didactic and recreational interests to reaffirm the established order, but also provides a space where the oppressed find a propitious medium to denounce persecution and find a sensation of catharsis represented in laughter and ridicule directed to their oppressors.
