摘要
This study describes the effects of the spread width of polyester multifilaments on the structure, properties, and production of a composite yam. The results show that the special structure of a composite yam blended evenly with spread multifilaments and cotton fibers has excellent yam properties with a spread width of about 8 mm. These properties include high tenacity, good abrasion resistance, a low irregularity and imperfection index, especially for hairiness, with only about 10% of normal cotton-rich spun yam. In addition, the lower twist is enough to producing a good composite yarn. There is an economic advantage of about 33% more production when spinning composite yam with a lower twist, compared with normal cotton-rich spun yam.
