EFFECTIVE SINGLET-TRIPLET MODEL FOR CUO2 PLANE IN OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTORS - THE CHARGE FLUCTUATION REGIME

A reduction from the two-band Emery model to an effective Hamiltonian describing low-energy properties of the CuO2 plane in oxide superconductors is presented. The approach is based on an expansion in the inter-site p-d hybridization amplitude 2-lambda-(ij)t(dp) (lambda-ij less-than-or-equal-to 0.14) between a Cu-orbital and a symmetric O-orbital in the Wannier representation. The resulting Hamiltonian is presented in terms of Hubbard operators for singlet and triplet local states. A further reduction to the single-band t-J model seems to be plausible.
