摘要
Investigations of the causes of dendrite formation have practical relevance to rechargeable batteries in which zinc is one of the electrodes. The beginnings of dendrite formation were investigated. Numerous dentritically shaped crystallites were present in the very early stages of deposition. They had definite crystallographic characteristics. Only a few developed into optically visible dendrites. High local current densities favored the development of fewer but larger dendrites.
