Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements at X-band frequencies are used to study in-plane magnetic anisotropies of a number of molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) Co/Cu(111) multilayer films. X-ray and reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) measurements confirm the epitaxial growth of Co on Cu(111) with f.c.c.(111) structure. The FMR experimental data are fitted by using energy density expressions that include a combination of growth induced uniaxial (second-) and sixth-order anisotropies. Values for the effective demagnetizing field (4 pi M(s))(eff) the growth induced uniaxial held H-Ku, and the sixfold in-plane anisotropy held H-K4 parameters are obtained from a multi-parameter chi(2) function minimization routine.
