Making a case for integration of disaster-preparedness content in associate degree nursing programs

Catastrophic events such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina have identified the need for nurses to be trained in disaster preparedness. Government and regulatory agencies are calling for this content to be included in nursing education at all levels. Associate degree nursing programs can take a leading role in preparing students to manage disaster events in a variety of health care settings.
