摘要
The problem of erosion in gun tubes is being solved by means of refractory metal coatings, which may be applied using various techniques including vapour deposition. CVD is particularly suitable for coating inside tubes, but the established halide processes have disadvantages which suggest the use of organometallic compounds. A plasma assisted technique has been developed using carbonyls to obtain well structured coatings of molybdenum and tungsten on gun steel substrates.
