摘要
Many in education suggest that to have students adopt healthy and active lifestyles, then they must be offered meaning rich physical activity experiences. This paper adds to this conversation in two ways. First, this paper adds depth and richness to traditional conceptualizations of the meaning in movement. In doing so, we interrogate the physical, cognitive and affective meaning that students may derive from participation in movement. Second, this paper examines the role of physical activity in theme-based, integrated curriculum. We highlight how physical activity can be incorporated into theme-based units in substantial and non-trivial ways. © 2001 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
