Design of Fabry-Perot interferometer electromagnetic radiation sensor based on optical microfibers techniques

摘要
In this paper, simple fiber optic sensors for the detection of UV electromagnetic radiation are presented. These advantages are general advantages of OF not belonging only to FPI. A single-mode fiber with two different diameters, 122 µm, and 4 µm, is used. The end of the optical fiber was covered with a UV-sensitive material, Phosphor. Both sensor heads were irradiated by UV radiation. The reflected spectra were collected every 5 min. From the results, the reflected spectra were attenuated due to the interaction of the UV-sensitive layer with the applied radiation. In general, both sensors showed good sensitivity and high linearity. However, the average intensity sensitivity was higher for the sensors of smaller diameters. They were equal to (−) 0.0024 a.u/nm and (−) 0.0061 a.u./min for the sensor of 122 µm and 4 µm, respectively. This type of sensors have many applications like monitoring UV radiation in outdoor environment, measuring the UV index which is very important parameter that influence the people health, especially in hot weather regions. And many other important application in different fields.
