Die steigende Anzahl an Implantationen wird zur Zunahme an periprothetischen Infektionen führen. Periprothetische Infektionen bei rheumatologischen Patienten, die oftmals eine immunsuppressive Therapie erhalten, sind für die behandelnden Ärzte eine Herausforderung dar. Die optimale Betreuung und Behandlung erfordert deshalb eine interdisziplinäre Abstimmung zwischen Orthopäden, Infektiologen und Rheumatologen.
