Transfer in metallic cadmium of the impurity 115mIn atoms formed at radiation capture of neutrons

A study was made of transfer of the impurity 115mIn atoms formed at radiation capture of neutrons and subsequent β- decay [ 114Cd(n,γ)115Cd → β- decay] in irradiated metallic cadmium (fluence 4.5 × 1019 neutron cm -2). It was shown that the transfer rate of 115mIn depends on the degree of defectiveness of the structure yielded by irradiation and tends to decrease during post-radiation annealing of metallic cadmium. The parameters of indium diffusion in metallic cadmium after annealing of the radiation-induced defects were estimated at Ea = 12.56 kJ mol -1, D0 = 3.18 × 10-9 cm2 s-1.
