Be prudent when prescribing medications to the elderly to minimize the risk of drug-induced kidney injury

Of the increasing number of acute kidney injuries in the elderly, many are drug induced. The elderly are particularly susceptible to acute kidney injury due to age-related renal changes and increased drug use. Although treatments for drug-induced kidney injury are currently lacking, prudent drug selection and monitoring for changes in renal function can prevent its occurence. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.
