Therapy of secondary effects in medical rehabilitation [Therapie von nebenwirkungen in der rehabilitation]

Medical rehabilitation is beneficial in exerting a positive and lasting influence on different kinds of secondary effects with varying degrees of severity which result from gynecological cancer or its treatment. Our object is, based on a biopsychosocial approach, to realize the best possible quality of life for each patient so that they can be reintegrated into their occupation, family, and social surrounding. The rehab concepts meet all requirements of present knowledge from science and research. Different options for therapy, training, and advice are offered according to individual needs. Self-help is encouraged to aid in adapting to the changed way of life. However, the most important factors are the patient's motivation and compliance. Discharge papers are used for the doctor in attendance and to make sure that afterwards the patient will be supported as best as possible. © 2008 Springer Medizin Verlag.
