A model of space-time dynamics of the sea ice cover in which individual ice floes undergo a successive change in size is considered. The formation and melting of ice floes, their aggregation, and the formation of hummocks are taken into account. A parametric model identification is done based on a sample of ice cover area and thickness distribution in the Japan Sea. © Allerton Press, Inc. 2007.
