This is a survey on new developments in the cohomology of Leibniz algebras for the Deutsche Mathematiker Vereinigung. We will mainly report on results with Jörg Feldvoss (University of South Alabama, USA) on the cohomology of semi-simple Leibniz algebras (Feldvoss et al. in J. Algebra 569:276–317, 2021) and on the cohomology of nilpotent Leibniz algebras (Feldvoss et al. in Indag.
