Two numerical methods based on Kirchhoff’s approach to solving the problem of diffraction for a system of apertures in a screen are described: a solution using a vector model and a solution using a scalar model. These two methods are compared and the domain of applicability of the scalar model is investigated. © 2014, Allerton Press, Inc.
