A criterion for electric field reversal in the negative glow region of a short DC glow discharge

摘要
A theoretical analysis is performed and simple analytical formulas are obtained for estimating the position of the point of electric field reversal in a short (without the positive column) dc glow discharge. Using these formulas, the position of the reversal point can be approximately determined from tabulated published data on the ionization coefficients for fast electrons in the field.
