摘要
Gynaecomastia correction has evolved over the years, especially with the advent of liposuction techniques. We have reviewed our experience in treating these patients using power-assisted liposuction either as a sole technique or as an adjunct to open excision over the last 5 years and the results are presented. A total of 73 patients were operated on during this period. The patients were divided into three groups. Those who had liposuction alone, liposuction with open excision, and those who had open excision alone. There were 20 cases of liposuction alone, 37 cases of liposuction with excision and 16 patients who had open excision alone. There were no complications in the liposuction group but 12 patients underwent revision surgery (38%). The second group had a complication rate of 12% and a reoperation rate of 28%. The third group had a complication rate of 11% and a re-operation rate of 31%. The overall complication rate was 6.8% and patientsatisfaction rate 80%. Power-assisted liposuction alone or as an adjunct to open excision is a useful tool in gynaecomastia correction. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
