Product Information as A Tool to Ensure the Right of Citizens to Quality and Safe Food

The article is devoted to the study of one of the issues of ensuring the quality and safety of food products in Russia - the need to provide complete and reliable information about the product delivered to the consumer. The authors consider this legal obligation of the food producer as one of the most important guarantees for the realization of the right of Russian citizens to purchase highquality and safe products. The need for compulsory labeling or information provided by law or state standard is indicated. The authors insist on expanding the list of mandatory information on certain groups of goods that should be established by state bodies. In their opinion, this will contribute to stricter compliance with the requirements for the quality and safety of food products in the Russian Federation, which, in turn, will ensure the national security interests of the Russian state in the food sector.
