Gasification of clarified sludge for electrical power generation with gas-fired engines

The paper presents a new gasification process for sewage sludge. The major aim of the work is to minimise the tar content of the producer gas by primary measures in order to get a gas quality suitable for a gas engine. The principles of the process development will be presented and discussed. In order to achieve a minimum of tar in the producer gas, the post reaction zone of the fluidized bed gasifier has been optimised using Computational Fluid Dynamics.
