摘要
A wide variety of refractory carbide based coatings are used in industrial components to lower friction and improve wear resistance. Traditional thermal sprayed hard coatings have deficiencies in these applications due to their high hardness, brittleness and inherent stresses. FGM concepts offer a means for tuning the tribological performance, allow for processing of thick deposits and enable meeting other system requirements. In this study, steel/cermet based FGMs have been prepared through plasma spray and high velocity oxy-fuel spray processes (HVOF). HVOF WC-Co/stainless steel and plasma Mo-Mo2C/stainless steel FGM were fabricated after optimising the processing conditions. Basic mechanical properties, wear and frictional responses have been evaluated, and their implications for the FGM real-component performance were discussed.
