Effect of Ce-Rich Mischmetal Addition on Microstructure and Tensile Properties of Secondary Al-Si Alloys

摘要
The effects of cerium-rich mischmetal addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of secondary Al-Si alloys were investigated by optical microscope (OM), scanning electric microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC). The results indicate that the mischmetal addition could refine the grains and modify the alpha-Fe phases from large Chinese script-like into the individual and fine nodular shape. A new phase enriched MM appears in the microstructure. When the addition amount of the Ce-rich mischmetal is 1%, the tensile properties of the secondary Al-Si alloys reach the optimal values.
