Arachnoid cyst of the cerebello-pontine angle: An unusual cause of vertigo and objective tinnitus

Lesions of the cerebello-pontine angle characteristically produce symptoms of tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo. Arachnoid cyst of the cerebello-pontine angle is an uncommon cause of vertigo and tinnitus. A case is reported a of a patient with an arachnoid cyst of the cerebello-pontine angle which produced headache, hearing loss, spells of vertigo and positional objective gurgling tinnitus. Removal of the cyst by the retro-sigmoid approach to the cerebello-pontine angle resulted in complete elimination of symptoms. The features of this case are described.
