摘要
In this work, we investigate numerically and experimentally the operation of a rotating permanent magnet based liquid metal pump. Previous analyses of such systems have been mostly analytical estimations of integral parameters and simplified numerical simulations. A full 3D model has been developed. Transient electromagnetics and fluid dynamics, taking into account the magnetic field convective term, are solved in the commercial package ANSYS. Results show that 2D modelling overestimates the force density and, hence, the pressure and flowrate, implying the necessity of 3D simulations. Results of the full 3D model show good agreement with experiments.
