Electromagnetic radiation in nucleus-nucleus collisions

By using the method of distorted waves, the yield of high-energy electromagnetic radiation in intermediate-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions is calculated in the nondipole approximation. The amplitude of the process is found in the coordinate representation. An analysis of experimental gamma spectra reveals that their formation is dominated by the bremsstrahlung mechanism. Special features of the spectra of gamma rays emitted in collisions of nuclei that are symmetric in the specific charge are considered. It is shown that the computational scheme is sensitive to the parameters of optical potentials.
