摘要
A simple, compact, and efficient dual band metamaterial planar antenna has been designed for WLAN/WiMAX applications. The antenna is designed on FR-4 substrate of 1 mm thickness, and is electrically connected to a 15.6-inch laptop ground plane. The antenna studied achieves a -10 dB reflection (S11) bandwidth of 240 MHz (2.34-2.58 GHz) in the 2.4 GHz band and 2.65 GHz (4.2-6.85 GHz) in the 4 GHz-7 GHz bands. It shows relatively higher peak realized gains, higher antenna efficiencies as well as improved omnidirectional characteristics in the azimuthal plane (plane transverse to the plane of the antenna structure). The computed results indicate that the designed antenna can be suitable for WLAN/WiMAX applications in laptop antenna.
