摘要
Unusual properties of polymer gels associated with the volume phase transition are reviewed. Three-phase coexistence around the discontinuous phase transition, break down of Gibbs phase rule, shape-dependent properties, and the curious behavior of the network elasticity have been examined. Significance of the investigations of these properties in the development of physics of gels is emphasized.
