Efficacy and mode of action of adjuvants in tank mixes with herbicides Efficacy of ACCase inhibitors and sulfonylurea tank mixes with several adjuvants were investigated using different test plant species (Bromus sterilis, Alopecurus myosuroides, Apera spica-venti, Avena sativa) and minimum application rates. Because of hairy surface and lack of wettability, herbicide effectivity against B. sterilis was especially stabilized with the help of adjuvants. Based on field trials against A. myosuroides and A. spica-venti between 2001 and 2003 a ranking of adjuvant partners for ACCase inhibitors was possible. Agrocer 012, Breakthru, Dash HC, Li 700 und Monfast resulted in similar or better efficacy than mineral oil. Citowett, Frigate and Greemax were comparable to rape oil. Aminosol and Bond were obviously less effective. The influence of adjuvants on the durability of herbicide activity after rainfall following application, depended on the nature of plant surface and the herbicide partner.
