Ad hoc network is a temporary jump a center of wireless networks, composed of a set of functions with routing and transmit mobile node consisting of a more autonomous systems. In this network, group conflict is local events, not all nodes can be perceived. IEEE 802.11 wireless networks employ the RTS/CTS mechanism in order to avoid DATA packet collisions. Even if the RTS/CTS handshake is performed successfully between a sender and a receiver, because of the masked node, the conflicts still can occur. Since DATA packet collisions reduce throughput and increase delay, masked nodes may significantly affect network performance. This paper proved the different between hidden node and masked node through the analyzing, then calculating the probability of the conflict. At the end of the article, we obtained the impact of the network performance because of masked node by simulation.
