The fingerprint image noise reducing and minutia matching in verification

摘要
An automatic fingerprint identification system (AFIS) is widely needed nowadays. It plays a very important role in forensic and civilian applications such as criminal identification, access control, and ATM card or IC card verification. This paper first uses discrete wavelet transformation to reduce fingerprint image noise and then constructs a model for minutia matching and an algorithm based on alignment is presented to meet the on-line fingerprint verification speed requirement. The model and the algorithm are also effectual to general control point matching problems.
