Cervical Choriocarcinoma - Conservative Treatment

Primary choriocarcinoma of the uterine cervix is an extremely rare condition and this histologic type is the most agressive form of GTN (Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia). It can arise from different types of trophoblastic tissue (term/preterm intrauterine pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or abortion). When it metastasizes the most common sites are lungs, brain, liver. In the current report we present a case of large cervical choriocarcinoma with vaginal bleeding and lung methastises. The vaginal bleeding was controlled due to uterine arterial embolization. Remission of cervical choriocarcinoma was succesful with EMA-CO chemotherapy. At present, the patient is free of disease.
