Performance Analysis of LDM and TDM systems for Three PLPs in DVB-T2

摘要
A layered division multiplexing (LDM) system is one of multiplexing techniques that combine multiple signals with different power levels and transmit them over a single radio frequency (RF) channel. To check the feasibility of threelayered division multiplexing, we analyzed the performance of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain when LDM and time division multiplexing (TDM) systems transmit three PLPs with the same data rate in DVB-T2. Although at some data rates, TDM systems are superior to LDM systems, the SNR performance of LDM systems is mostly better than that of TDM. Specifically, when targeting data rates of three PLPs at 3 Mbps, 6 Mbps, and 20 Mbps, LDM systems have an SNR gain of about 0 to 5 dB better than TDM systems.
