An investigation of nano-second UV laser processing parameters on surface micro-groove geometry and microstructure in Ti-6Al-4V

摘要
This paper examines the effects of laser processing parameters on the geometry and microstructure of micro-grooved Ti-6Al-4V surfaces. The paper explores the effects of key processing parameters such as pulse repetition rate, feed speed and wavelength. 'Optimal' laser processing parameters are identified for the formation of 12 Pin grooves that promote contact guidance during cell/surface integration. The underlying microstructures associated with promising laser processing parameters are then identified by scanning electron microscopy analyses of cross-sections of the laser-textured surfaces.
