Nature of the galactic soft γ-ray emission

摘要：
The high-energy part of the galactic gamma-ray emission is well described as resulting from the interactions of the cosmic rays with the interstellar gas and photons. The extrapolation of these processes down to the soft gamma-ray domain (E<1 MeV) falls short to account for the observed emission. In this paper we suggest that this emission is dominated by dim point sources or sources in a low state which are undetectable with the present generation of imaging experiments.
