摘要
A systematic evaluation of the dose-volume relation and its degree of consistency to implant parameters for 100 consecutive patients treated with ultrasound-guided prostate implant using Pd-103 seeds are presented. The prostate was contoured on transverse US images and Pd-103 seeds were implanted at the desired locations via 18-gauge needles using a rigid template. Post-implant dose distributions and dose-volume histograms were computed to evaluate the implant quality by considering implant parameters such as: (i) the number of implanted seeds vs, average dimension of the prostate, (ii) the total implanted activity vs. prostate volume as well as the volumes encompassed by the prescribed dose, PD, and arbitrarily chosen PD +/- 0.5 PD relative to the target volume.
