Production technology: Commercial composite-materials acoustic guitars

We update the discussion of our RainSong(R) graphite/epoxy guitars to the technology behind their commercial production. We review the history, design philosophy and proprietary construction techniques of classical and steel-string acoustic RainSongs. They contain NO wood, and are the first commercially-available acoustic guitars constructed completely of composite materials. In particular, we discuss the problems involved in making the guitars at production rates of 10/15 guitars/month and the application of Resin-Transfer Molding [RTM] and pre-impregnated fibers ["prepregs"] to the manufacture of these instruments. Additionally, we have samples of the latest production RainSong guitars on display at SAMPE 97.
