Hypothetically extended substructure method for component mode synthesis

摘要
Many attempts to improve the convergence of the component mode synthesis have been made including the consideration of residual effects, the use of loaded modes and others. Particularly in the free-interface method the normal modes of each substructure with free interface conditions are utilized to express not only the interface displacements but also the transmitted forces between adjacent substructures so that convergence is quite slow. In the present method the normal modes of hypothetically extended substructures are employed to improve convergence. The underlying ideas of the present method are outlined and the advantage and the potential applications of this method are also addressed.
