Wireless communications in Taiwan

The global wireless communication markets, including mobile cellular services, Personal Communication Services (PCS), and satellite broadcast services, have been growing very rapidly and the global capital expenditures on such wireless systems are estimated to exceed US$40 billion per year. Realizing the central position that wireless communications will play in its future development, the Taiwanese government has launched a major deregulation effort to develop its cellular, PCS, and satellite service industries. This paper will explore the current status and future progress of the deregulation process of Taiwan's wireless communications services industry, and discuss the role of Taiwan's wireless equipment industry.
