Semileptonic and nonleptonic B decays to three charm quarks:: B→J/ψ(ηc)Dlν1 and J/ψ(ηc)Dπ -: art. no. 054022

We evaluate the (B) over bar (0)-->J/psi(eta(c))D(+)pi(-) nonleptonic decay in a phase space region where the pion factors out. This decay might provide a significant background to the decay process (B) over bar (0)-->J/psi(eta(c))D-star0, followed by D-star0-->D(+)pi(-), with a slightly off-shell D-star0. The relevant form factors describing the (B) over bar (0)-->J/psi (eta(c))D(+)l(-)(ν) over barl semileptonic decay, required for the calculations, have been evaluated within the framework of a QCD relativistic potential model. We estimate the branching ratio for the nonleptonic channels, finding BR((B) over bar (0)-->J/psiD(+)pi(-))=3.1x10(-8) and BR((B) over bar (0)-->eta(c)D(+)pi(-))=3.5x10(-8). As a by-product of our calculations, we also quote the (B) over bar (0)-->J/psi (eta(c))D(+)lnul semileptonic decay branching ratio: BR((B) over bar (0)-->J/psi(eta(c))D(+)lnu(l))similar or equal to10(-13).
