摘要
An artificial island for oil production and storage in China offshore will be in service. The main structure of the island is a cylinder-cone shaped caisson sitting on the seabed and supported by 17 piles. The caisson consists of several bulkheads inside, top structure, and thick sandwiched side shell and bottom. The loads from gravity, hydrostatic pressure, wave, wind, current, ice, earthquake and temperature of stored oil, are considered to assess the safety margin of the caisson's strength, bulkheads' buckling and piles' capability. The outline of structural design, the combination of loads and principle of structural analysis are presented in this paper.
