摘要
The purpose of this paper is to analyze some old cartographic materials overlapping recent orthophotos in order to identify the watermills in the Land of Hateg (Romania) and individualize the current traditional landscape. The watermills located in the middle and upper basins of the Strei River, in the Land of Harg, have experienced a significant evolution in time and space. However, the presence of watermills can be traced back to the second half of the 18th century, when the first cartographic documents were issued. The methodological approach included one "top-down" analysis, the historical reconstruction of the preindustrial heritage sites, and a spatial analysis of the most relevant tourist resources. Findings prove the continuing presence of watermills in the territory under study, albeit poorly managed.
