Synthesis of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) by Ralstonia eutropha in the presence of 13C-labeled ethylene glycol

摘要
Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] was synthesized by fermentation using 13C-labeled ethylene glycol (EG) in the fermentation medium. To obtain a better insight into the disposition of EG during the biosynthesis of P(3HB), the 1,2-13C EG was used. Chain termination reaction by EG and participation of hydroxyethyl-terminated chains in further transesterification reactions were studied by 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
