摘要
The actual economic, social and demographic processes alter social protection issues affecting the ederly population and, in particular, the issue of administering pension systems,,most efficiently in quite a significant way as they represent a challenge for both developed countries and countries undergoing transition. For Romania, this problem is made worse by the alarming delay with which the reform process gets underway. The current reform of romanian pension system must take into consideration the options, tendencies and the EU legislation into which it wants to integrate. Victor Hugo once said that "a child's affliction stirs up a mother's interest, a young boy's sadness, a young girl's interest, and an old man's affliction doesn't interest anybody." Things have changed since then, but not sufficiently. In a society that gives great importance to youth and vitality, old people tend to become invisible. Old people are a valuable resource. They represent not only our connection with the past, but are also a connection with the future- through their experience and their devotion to national traditions and values.
