Exciton-polariton Josephson interferometer in a semiconductor microcavity

摘要
We propose to construct an exciton-polariton Josephson interferometer in a planar semiconductor microcavity. For a single excitation laser, the time-independent Josephson currents appear, regardless of the excitation laser, energy differences, and interactions. Exciton polaritons can exist in the trap far away from the excitation area (several micrometres), although their lifetime is very short (several picoseconds). If there are two excitation sources, the constructive and destructive interferences can be modulated, and they are related to the condensate energies, densities, interactions, and hopping energy in the dc Josephson effect. The 0-pi transition is obtained by altering the condensate energies. A synchronized phase exists in the ac Josephson effect and keeps the system oscillating in the steady state. These results are useful to interpret the coherence in the driven-dissipative Josephson interferometer. Copyright (C) EPLA, 2014
