摘要
Recently, randomized sham controlled trials clearly established the blood pressure lowering effect of radiofrequency- or ultrasound- based renal sympathetic denervation. This holds true in the absence or presence of antihypertensive drugs. Important aspects such as the selection of optimal patient groups or intraprocedural markers of effetive ablation are currently under intensive investigation. Longtime data prove the safety of the method. At present, the use of renal sympathetic denervation in clinical routine is not recommended in international and national guidelines.
