CNC form grinding technology for powder metallurgy gear dies

To enhance the accuracy of powder metallurgy gears dies, the CNC form grinding technique with a strait wheel is used to grind the dies. A line-cutting model for the numerical simulation was put forward, the given tooth shape is transferred into the computational plane and is envelop using this model to compute the profile of the wheel. A profile computing and managing software was programmed and used to validate the algorithm. A form grinding system with special grinding head and wheel dresser is developed. The computational examples and grinding experiment validates the algorithm and the technique.
