摘要
The principal aquifer of the Lagan Valley, Northern Ireland, is the Triassic Sherwood Sandstone formation. A detailed hydrogeochemical interpretation has been made of this formation. Correlation of major ion analyses highlights the importance of dedolimitization in the geochemical evolution of the aquifer's water. Results from geochemical modelling and radiocarbon dating have shown the importance both of recharge through the till and of water mixing in the geochemical evolution of the water. Geochemical modelling results differed from previous flow model conclusions, highlighting the importance of considering both techniques in hydrogeological investigations.
