On the restriction of irreducible characters of symmetric groups to Sylow p-subgroups

摘要：
We prove that the restriction to a Sylow 3-subgroup of any irreducible character of the symmetric group has always a linear constituent. We conjecture that this should hold for all Sylow p-subgroups, where p is any prime number. Crown Copyright (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
